Dr. Anand is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in spinal deformity correction and a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Spine Trauma at the renowned Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He earned his medical degree from the University of Bombay, Topiwala National Medical College in India and completed orthopedic residencies at the University of Bombay, the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London, the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in Liverpool and at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Orthopedic Program at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in New York.

Dr. Anand accomplished a reconstructive spinal surgery fellowship at the University of Florida Spinal Health Centers in Gainesville as well as a scoliosis fellowship and spinal trauma fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell University in New York. He completed his surgical internship at New York Medical College, Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. Following his extensive medical education and training, Dr. Anand established his private medical practice in the Los Angeles area.

He became a contributor to U.S. News in 2017, covering a range of back pain, neck pain, spinal deformity and spine health-related topics. His past academic appointments at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center include Director of Orthopedic Spine Surgery as well as Director of Spine Fellowship where he’s trained more than 30 fellows in the minimally invasive techniques and approaches he has developed and employs. He served as principal investigator in a number of Food and Drug Administration investigational device exemption studies that have helped pave the way for innovation in minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Anand is a heavily-published author, editor and presenter of articles, studies and poster/abstract presentations in prestigious academic journals, trade publications, textbook chapters and world-wide industry meetings, with more than 500 such contributions to Spine, Journal of Spinal Disorders, Journal of Orthopedic Trauma and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, among many others. He is also a section editor of the newest Gray’s Anatomy 41st Edition. Dr. Anand is a frequent medical expert contributor to mainstream media publications and news outlets including the Los Angeles Times, Sports Illustrated, SELF, Bustle, Women’s Health, Everyday Health and Huffington Post, as well as local and national television news outlets, such as Ivanhoe National Broadcast News and CBS, NBC and ABC television affiliates.
